Openreach to rollout ultrafast broadband to Aughton and Ormskirk within the next few months
Openreach have announced that they are set to expand their Fibre to the premises (FTTP) gigabit capable ultrafast broadband to Aughton and Ormskirk. This is part of their national rollout, which is looking to reach four million premises across the country by March 2021.
Openreach is the UK’s digital network business. They say it is their mission to provide the best possible network, and give people the reliable broadband they need at work and at home.
The new FTTP ultrafast broadband will allow home and businesses to benefit from speeds of up to 1,000Mbps and this will add much needed competition to properties served by Virgin Media, whose own rollout appears to have stalled in late 2018.
The rollout by Openreach will add availability to those not currently served by Virgin media and as Openreach tend to make use of existing ducting and telegraph poles (when possible) the disruption to public and businesses is likely to be minimal.

Interestingly it shows Aughton and Ormskirk’s rollout to be commenced in the next 3 months.
