Local motor club rallies for ex-forces at Aintree
Ormskirk and District Motor Club (ODMC) took part in a track day over the recent Bank Holiday at Aintree. The club fielded five fully supported cars at the race circuit track day arranged by organisers of the popular Formby Car Show. The event was held at the Aintree Circuit, the former home of the British F1 Grand Prix, by the very experienced Liverpool Motor Club (LMC), the event was slickly run and the day a huge success.
Getting involved is a primary purpose of ODMC who regularly support ex-forces personnel and newcomers to motorsport, both featuring at the Aintree track day. ‘These events are superb for getting started in motorsport’ said ODMC’s Nick Stafford, adding that two new female ODMC members, Holly (17) and Alex (16) were given passenger rides around the track to experience the excitement first hand. Holly will be driving an ODMC car at the next event as the club support her rallying development. The club welcomes all who would like to be involved, male or female, from age 14 upwards.
Having travelled up from the South, ex-forces personnel, also regularly supported by ODMC, were loaned a car by the club and even the team mechanics were taken on passenger drives throughout the day.
ODMC operates at rally and race events around the country, often with the three cars of the club’s Ginetta Team partners, Premiership Academy Racing, assisted by ODMC with personnel and transport. Like ODMC, Premiership Academy Racing support recovering veterans in various roles.
The club operates as a totally self-contained unit, everything from driving, to setting up transport, mechanics, even catering, so there are opportunities for everyone. For further details contact:
