Police put Section 60 in place after two teenagers attacked
Local Police have put a Section 60 in place after an incident where a 17 year-old-boy and a man, 18, were attacked on Sunday evening.
The Section 60 powers will be in place covering the Birch Green, Elmers Green, Digmoor and Skelmersdale central areas (shown on the map image below) between 5pm Monday 27th May and 5am Tuesday 28th May.
The Section 60 gives Police the power to search people or vehicles without suspicion in an area where they believe violence could take place. Officers are keen to not worry the public and make them aware that it’s not about targeting people, it is about making sure that they do all they can to keep us and where we live safe, whilst offering the public reassurance and maintaining a presence in the area.
Officers think that the attack on Sunday evening was targeted and in relation to a dispute between two groups who are known to each other. Local forces are working on finding those responsible and do not believe there is a threat to the wider public. The public are advised to carry on with plans as normal.
The 17-year-old boy suffered a number of stab wounds however, he is in a stable condition and receiving treatment in hospital. His injuries aren’t thought to be life threatening. The 18-year-old man received minor injuries.
If you know anything that you think may help the investigation, it is important that you please call 101 quoting incident reference 1459 of May 26th.
