Appeal after local park play equipment set on fire
West Lancashire Borough Council is appealing for information after newly installed play equipment in a local Park was vandalised. A recently installed rope swing was set on fire in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday on 22 April.
The rope swing which has proved a real favourite with local families was set alight damaging the equipment and the surface area underneath.
The equipment had recently been installed at Stanley Coronation Park on Sandy Lane, Skelmersdale.
Heidi McDougall, Director of Leisure and Environment, said: “This deliberate attack of vandalism is so disappointing to see after the recent investment in the park for all the community to enjoy. Funding for the provision of new play areas is limited and we were so delighted when the new equipment was installed.”
Any information regarding this incident can be reported to the Police on 101 (when calling please give log number LC-20190430-0195) or the Borough Council 01695 585144.
