A man from Kent has died following a collision in Halsall.
Police were called at around 7.45am this morning to Renacres Lane to reports an HGV had collided with a concrete post.
Emergency services attended the scene and the driver – a 54-year-old man from Kent – was taken to Southport Hospital. He sadly passed away a short time later. His family are now being supported by specially-trained officers.
The road is now open but was closed in both directions for several hours.
Sergeant Martin Wilcock, of Lancashire Police’s TacOps team, said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the collision but we continue to work to establish the full circumstances. If you saw the collision, or saw the vehicle in the moments before it happened, please let us know.”
