Police appeal for info after shooting in Banks on a Saturday

Local Detectives are investigating a shooting in Banks last night (Saturday, July 7th).

The shooting happened at around 9:30pm on The Avenue when a car containing four men in balaclavas pulled up alongside a white Transit van. One of the occupants of the car discharged a firearm, believed to be a handgun, at the van a number of times. The driver and passenger of the van were not injured.

After the shooting, the car drove off from the area and Police offices and are trying to trace the vehicle and the four occupants.

They appreciate this incident will have caused concern in the local community so they would like to reassure residents that while incidents of this kind are rare, they are doing everything they can to find the people responsible and have increased patrols in the area.
