Police arrest six scrambler bike yobs on Sunday
Skelmersdale Police received numerous reports from the public concerning large groups of scrambler and quad bikes causing disruption on the roads around Skelmersdale and Ormskirk on Sunday 8th April. These reports ranged from groups of bikes traveling along both lanes of the road; riding the wrong way down dual carriage ways; riding without helmets and other driving offences. Police patrols were deployed to the area and due to the proactive work by immediate response, neighbourhood, motorway officers and the assistance of the force helicopter a total of 6 persons were arrested for handling stolen goods and theft, with 13 scrambler bikes seized and at this time 5 being confirmed as stolen.
The six people arrested have been interviewed and released under investigation while the police fully examine the seized bikes and view CCTV. Of those arrested none were local, they were all from outside of the area. The motorbikes had been stolen from the Nottingham and Yorkshire areas.
The police would like to thank the members of the public who contacted them in relation to this matter and they urge anyone with any dashcam or CCTV footage to email Sgt Darren Carr on firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact details so I can arrange collection.
