Be advise of disruption at Southport Hospital today
Saturday morning will see a 60m-high crane roll into Southport hospital on March 24. It will lift four ready-built modules into place to assemble for the A&E extension. Parking and traffic access will be disrupted while the work is under way.
There will be also disruption for some patients in Wards 9A and 9B during the lifting work. Ward managers will be briefed at the relevant hand-overs.
CAR PARKING CHANGES. The duck pond car park will be closed from 5pm on Friday 23 March until 6pm on Saturday. All vehicles parked here from earlier in the day must leave by midnight. Car park A at the front of the hospital for Blue Badge drivers will operate as normal. Access to other parking for all visitors will be via the staff car park entrance. Temporary signage and traffic marshals will be provided. Parking at Southport hospital will be free, with all barriers raised, on Saturday to minimise disruption for visitors.
PEDESTRIAN ACCESS TO HOSPITAL. The entrance opposite the Clinical Education Centre will be closed to pedestrians during the work. All other routes will remain open including the path from Town Lane, past the duck pond to the Clinical Education Centre.
AMBULANCE ACCESS. Access for emergency ambulances will be unaffected.
