An Ormskirk bowling club will benefit from improved groundskeeping equipment after receiving a £1,000 donation from a Lancashire housebuilder.
The donation comes courtesy of Persimmon Homes Lancashire’s Community Champions scheme which invites local groups and charities to bid for cash, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month.
Mere Brow Bowling Club, which is located behind the popular village hall, has 55 members. Persimmon Homes’ support will fund a new mowing machine for the club as the existing equipment has become financially difficult to repair.
Diane Finch, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “We are so pleased to support a local sporting group which encourages participation in sport and a positive neighbourhood environment.
“We hope that the club will be able to benefit from the improved equipment for many years to come.
“Selecting our monthly winners is always a difficult task but we urge any good cause to get in touch with an application.”
Community groups, charities and good causes across the country have benefited thanks to donations from Persimmon Homes.
The scheme invites local groups and charities to bid for cash from a national fund, with two donations of up to £1,000 being made locally each month. Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simply online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity
